Yesterday we exhibited at the Evolve 2015 conference in London – the leadership event for the voluntary sector in the UK.

With multiple customers in the third sector, we’re well placed to understand the challenges of charity recruitment, from the need to stand out and engage with vital volunteers and staff to a lack of time and resources.

To help, we’ve put together some of our resources and experiences of supporting not-for-profit and charity recruitment.

Charity recruitment: Attracting and engaging with volunteers

The Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND Association) uses Hireserve ATS (formerly iCams), our recruitment software, for its volunteer recruitment. Of key importance is the Facebook App, which allows potential volunteers to browse opportunities, share and apply online.

Using Facebook to aid its volunteer recruitment allows the MND Association to reach thousands of potential volunteers and engage with candidates in their own digital space. It positions the Association as a forward-thinking, fresh organisation and provides a streamlined experience for applicants.

And using Facebook means the MND Association can promote its values and volunteering culture to potential volunteers. With daily updates and over 25,000 likes, the Association shares volunteering and fundraising news, campaign updates and more.

“Using Hireserve ATS (iCams) has helped bring our volunteer recruitment into the 21st century.  Providing the opportunity for volunteers to apply for our roles online via our website or Facebook page has made such a difference – not just for potential volunteers, but also for our team when processing applications.” – MND Association

Charity recruitment: Can recruitment software help?

You may already be using recruitment software in your organisation, or you may feel it’s completely out of reach for a charity or not-for-profit. Often it’s more accessible than you might think, both in terms of price and usability – and a knowledgeable and experienced supplier should be able to assuage any trepidation you might have.

From helping you manage your recruitment spend better to aiding your candidate experience with a sleek online application process, an ATS can streamline and enhance all aspects of charity recruitment processes. To help you understand more about how recruitment software can help, we’ve put together a free guide for you to download.

“Our strategy to centralise the Federation’s recruitment process meant that we needed a cost effective solution that would help overcome some of the challenges we face in Education recruitment. We found this solution in Hireserve ATS (iCams). The platform allowed us to establish an end-to-end recruitment process which is highly efficient, easy to use and bespoke to our particular requests.” – The Harris Federation
