Hireserve was delighted to be invited to Oxford Brookes University recently to present a guest lecture to HR professionals working towards their CIPD Graduate status.

Jeremy Ovenden was invited to speak on the People Resourcing Module and gave an informative lecture on e-recruitment.  The focus of the lecture was predominantly on how technology can assist the attraction and selection of candidates and the wider field of talent management.

Those attending the lecture came from a wide range of organisations with approximately half working in the private sector and the remaining half in the public sector.

Jeremy said that he welcomed the opportunity to meet with the students and said “this was a great opportunity for me to speak to an audience of HR professionals wanting to know more about e-recruitment and what technology can offer them.   They were an engaging audience keen to ask questions and certainly appeared to show a good knowledge already of e-recruitment and a seemed keen to learn more”.

Jeremy’s knowledge and experience enabled him to highlight examples of both good and bad careers sites and offered his advice and thoughts about what to consider when thinking about e-recruitment.    He briefly touched on the advances in social networking which are now being considered by forward-thinking employers as a media through which to engage with their target audiences.
