Our top three talent management take-aways
A couple of weeks ago we attended TheJobPost’s Talent Leaders Connect event at Kings Fund, London. It was a chance for senior talent management professionals to meet, network and listen to a range of speakers on the day.
We were exhibiting but also had the chance to sit in on the presentations, which shed light on all aspects of resourcing and talent management – from why sourcing talent goes far beyond LinkedIn stalking to how to beat the ‘talent crunch’ in the technology sector. Live audience polls took place throughout the day, and one of the more striking statistics was this:
51% of the audience found retaining talent to be the biggest challenge.
How can talent management professionals address this challenge? Mark Linden (Allied Healthcare) offered a passionate yet pragmatic insight into how he believes flexible working options can attract, retain and engage talent. Finding team members who’ll fit a company’s culture and grow with the business is also essential, and this was the focus of Mike Bishop (Ricoh UK)’s presentation, whilst Kirstie Kelly-Batt (LaunchPad Recruits) explained why companies should be talking with – not at – candidates at the beginning of the talent sourcing process.
